Marc Vallée – 90s Archive: Volume One
July 20 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm CEST
Join Marc Vallée for the Berlin launch of 90s Archive: Volume One at the Retramp Gallery on Thursday 20 July 2023. Marc will be in conversation with Bad Gays co-author Ben Miller. The talk will be in English and a book signing will take place after.
“The pictures are autobiographical; a window into Vallée’s life in 90s London. However, they have a wider historical and political significance, capturing queer youth as the gay community slowly emerged from the horror of the 80s and early-90s global AIDS epidemic, Margaret Thatcher and Clause 28, which was in effect until 2003.”
– British Journal of Photography, December, 2022.
“As a teenager of the 80s with Thatcher, AIDS and Clause 28 it’s not a surprise I ended up documenting my friends when I got to art school in the 90s…”
– DAZED Magazine, November, 2022.
