Periods: Everyday Life, Discourse & Activism (Exhibition Tour)
February 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm CET

Join me, Danielle Keiser, a globally recognized menstrual health expert and advocacy leader, for an engaging, eye-opening exploration of 🩸Flow: The Exhibition on Menstruation 🩸 at the Museum of European Cultures (Museum Europäischer Kulturen).
This guided tour will illuminate how menstrual products, cultural taboos, and activism have shaped the experiences of women and people who menstruate over the past two centuries—and where the path to “menstrual equity” stands today.
Through stories, hands-on exhibits, and over 200 objects—including historical advertisements, menstrual products, and contemporary social media posts—we’ll delve into 4 key areas:
– The biological background of menstrual health (I bet your biology teacher never taught you this!)
– The evolution of menstrual products and undergarments since the 19th century.
– The shifting cultural narratives, discourses, modern knowledge and myths
– The vibrant role of pop culture and art in breaking period taboos and driving activism.
Discover how menstruation, though an everyday reality for billions, has remained hidden in plain sight and how movements for period positivity and activism are driving change.
This tour offers a unique chance to engage with menstruation’s often-overlooked history and culture while envisioning a more inclusive future.
