Founded in 2022, SKI is the solo project of Damian Kowalski, evolving from its afro-jazz roots into minimalist, intensely amplified arrangements with subtle modulations. Originally conceived as part of larger musical collaborations with KKZ and Rozwód, these ideas have developed into the foundation for independent compositions.
A breakthrough moment came with the recording of the first album, soon to be released by Pointless Geometry. The music blends danceable rhythms with raw, grainy textures, embracing uncompromising creativity that captivates listeners. The production process focused on capturing the organic nature of playing an amplified drum kit—without metronomes or overdubs—resulting in a hypnotic yet expressive sound.
SKI’s music echoes influences from UK bass, UK dub, footwork, and techno, yet remains direct and fresh, avoiding pretentiousness and focusing on groove and the relationship between rhythm and feedback.
