DESCRIPTION:With the Artist’s Say collective\, curated by Jania Artyjanes \nOpening: January 6\, 6 – 9 pm\nOpen Thursdays to Sundays\, 4 – 8 pm\nRuns until January 29 \nWe are ArtistsSay\, a Berlin-based community of women artists from Russia\, Ukraine\, Kazakhstan and Belarus. \nWe have been organizing art exhibitions\, courses and meetings for Russian-speaking artists in Berlin for almost two years. Despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine\, which we are staunchly against\, and which has torn relations between our nations\, we want to show the world that artists from our countries\, who share the same values of humanism and empathy\, can work together and create beautiful things as a team. \nArtistsSay’s next exhibition is dedicated to our experience of emigration. It is different for each of us: for some it is a dark memory\, a culture shock\, for some it is just homesickness\, and for some of us it is a new bright chapter full of happiness. Sometimes we run from the darkness\, sometimes we follow the light. One thing we all have in common – emigration was a Rubicon that divided our lives into “before” and “after”. \nIn the course of this exhibition\, we will share with you our personal stories and life-changing experiences. What made us leave our country and what happens to a person when they realize they are leaving their entire life behind to start a new one in another part of the world. Political escape\, job opportunity\, breathtaking love story…. Every emigration experience is unique. We will share them with you in our artworks.
