DESCRIPTION:Vernissage of Doomsday Graphics art prints exhibition.\nhttps://www.instagram.com/doomsday_graphics\nhttps://doomsdaygraphics.bigcartel.com/ \n„Doomsday Graphics is my brainchild\, pseudonym\, and tool to explore the realm of dark surrealism by allowing it to merge\, reflect\, and relate to the reality I live in. It started as my attempt to stay sane in the midst of the wars and crises that ruled my country of origin during the last decade of the 20th century. Not as an escape from that reality\, but more as a way to process it. Far away from galleries and official cultural institutions of that time\, which focused on promoting art and culture acceptable to the party in power and their nationalistic warmongering ideas\, I began publishing my illustrations in xeroxed publications and fanzines circulating in the underground DIY music scene of the 90s. Since then\, my work has been strongly influenced by DIY ethics\, relying on my own resources\, networking with like-minded people\, and collaborating in the production and presentation of our work. Most of the prints presented in this exhibition were silk-screen printed in my home studio in Neukölln\, Berlin\, over the last four years. Most of the images in these prints also originate from the same period. They are echoes\, distorted mirrors of a reality not so different from the one that inspired me in the last decade of the 20th century\, processed from a somewhat safer distance\, though. \nI would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Nowhereland Tattoo studio for inviting me and sharing their space for this exhibition.
