SUMMARY:Look Up Here: Bowie\, 10 Years On - Remembering Bowie's Berlin Legacy
DESCRIPTION:Join writers Rory MacLean (Berlin: Imagine a City) & Demi Anter for an intimate performance/conversation in celebration of David Bowie.\nIn 1977\, a Canadian wannabe filmmaker travels to West Berlin for the job of a lifetime: working with David Bowie on the set of Just a Gigolo .\nIn 2016\, days after Bowie’s passing\, a fresh-faced Californian poet lands in the capital city and quickly finds she can’t escape her favorite musician’s legacy.\nIn 2026\, writers (and adopted Berliners) Rory MacLean and Demi Anter join forces for a special double act. Together they honor Bowie’s iconic Berlin era\, and reflect on how his journey through the city influenced their own.\nJoin us for an intimate evening of conversation and readings at Shakespeare & Sons Bookstore in Friedrichshain.\nSpace is limited\, early booking is encouraged. Books and drinks will be available for purchase. Suitable for all ages.\nAbout the speakers:\nFormer Berlin resident Rory MacLean worked with both Bowie and Marlene Dietrich\, and his books — which have been translated into a dozen languages — include UK top ten Stalin’s Nose \, Under the Dragon and Berlin: Imagine a City \, “the most extraordinary work of history I’ve ever read” said the Washington Post.\nCalifornia-native and Berlinerin since 2016\, Demi Anter is an extensively touring poet and creative writing facilitator\, with appearances at Glastonbury Festival\, Edinburgh Fringe\, Poetry Ireland\, the Scottish Storytelling Centre\, WABE and more. She regularly teaches on the subject of contemporary Berlin literature\, and facilitates workshops for London’s Irish Cultural Centre\, the National Theatre and others.\nRory and Demi debuted “Bowie in Berlin” — a performance and discussion of the creative icon and his Berlin sojourn — at the sold-out\, inaugural Sherborne Travel Writing Festival (UK) in 2023. This is their first performance together in Berlin.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1570575550649539/

SUMMARY:Spider Piece
DESCRIPTION:„She traps things in her web; she embroiders her tiny corner of the universe“\n(Rachel Cusk\, Louise Bourgeois: Suites on Fabric\, 2019)\nMiia Rinne\, Mirka Raito\, Gosia Machon\, Niina Lehtonen Braun\, Piia Rinne\, Alice Chauchat\nFebruary 6–15\, 2026\nHilbertRaum\, Berlin\nOpening: Friday\, February 6\, 2026\, 6–10 pm\nwith the live installation River Eye by Piia Rinne & Miia Rinne\nDance piece: Alice Chauchat\, Sunday\, February 8\, 5 pm\nFinissage / Sunday Salon: Sunday\, February 15\, 2026\, 4–7 pm\nSPIDER PIECE brings together installative\, painterly\, performative\, and musical works that thread through the space like strands of a web. The exhibition sees the spider not merely as a metaphor\, but as a model of thinking and perception; an entity that embodies both productivity and captivity\, care and control\, sensitivity and ambivalence.\nThe pieces respond differently to recurrent motifs throughout art history—specifically the work of Louise Bourgeois—such as: the duality of motherhood\, corporeality\, and artistic labour. The spider is industrious\, precise\, enduring; it weaves structures out of itself that are at once shield\, archive\, and trap. It remains bound to one place\, yet perceives its surroundings with the utmost attention.\nThe participating artists contribute to the spider’s lexicon without defining it absolutely. Their works move between intimacy and display\, between inner sensations and outer structures. Here\, perception is not a stable state\, but something fragile and fluctuating—a constant spinning\, loosening\, and repairing.\nMiia Rinne develops a new installation for HilbertRaum that draws together elements of her earlier work Trapeze Net and extends them further atmospherically. Sound\, moving images\, and space interlock; audio material from C-cassettes becomes experienceable via headphones. Perception here becomes bodily\, selective\, and unreliable—a fabric of memory\, repetition\, and disturbance.\nMirka Raito’s pieces consider the phenomenon of ASMR: that difficult-to-describe tingling that can be triggered by whispering\, rustling\, or observing highly concentrated activities. In her work she examines ASMR as a threshold experience between space\, body\, and attention—between gently rushing past euphoria. Drawings\, objects\, and connective elements stretch into a quiet\, charged installation.\nGosia Machon presents small-format works on paper in which psychological states\, body images\, and natural scenes overlap. Her images appear at once open and condensed—like mental landscapes in which desire\, secrecy\, and reverence permeate one another.\nNiina Lehtonen Braun develops an installative arrangement of collages\, objects\, painting\, and stop-motion animation. The works unfold as a spatial narrative of images\, notes\, and associations in which layers\, ruptures\, and repetitions negotiate corporeality and experience.\nThe exhibition is further expanded through a series of performative interventions:\nAt the opening on 6 Feb\, Miia Rinne and Piia Rinne show a joint sound-video performance in which analogue cassette sounds\, tape loops\, and video material are live-woven together.\nOn Sunday\, 8 Feb\, Alice Chauchat performs a solo dance piece within the exhibition—a bodily engagement with space\, time\, and attention that temporarily sets the assembly of works in motion.\nSPIDER PIECE understands the exhibition space as a living structure: a place in which artistic processes\, bodies\, sounds\, and images touch\, become entangled\, and loosen again. A web that does not so much capture as make visible.\nText: Katharina Schilling\nTranslation: Sylvie Ringer\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/2298229287345679/

SUMMARY:The Swan That Disappeared - Talk & Community Gathering with Eric Dickson
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, August 7\, SomoS invites you to a talk and community gathering led by New York-based artist Eric Dickson\, focused on his SomoS residency project\, The Swan That Disappeared.\nBeginning with a simple “Missing Swan” poster\, Dickson’s project explores the psychological appeal of conspiracy theories. Members of the public were invited to express interest in\, or submit information about\, a suspicious swan that had mysteriously disappeared. Over several weeks\, the swan’s story has grown and mutated\, through a growing proliferation of publicly-posted materials\, voicemail messages\, audio installation elements\, live performances\, and bespoke interactions with individual members of the public who chose to get in touch. The project\, which continues through August 11\, extends over a stretch of the Landwehrkanal between Urbanhafen and Thielenbrücke.\nThe evening at SomoS will include a presentation on the project\, a discussion of conspiracy theory psychology\, and reflections from members of the public who encountered the project “in the wild.”\n🕒 Thursday\, August 7\, 2025\, 7:00 PM | Free Entry\n📍 SomoS Arts | Kottbusser Damm 95\, 1.0G\, 10967 Berlin (U8 – Schönleinstraße)\n🌐 https://somos.media/10k\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/757788593407964/

DESCRIPTION:actions + performances by\n* VIBRAKU : Ira Hadžić and Tarufu\n* DORA BLEU & CEDRIK FERMONT\n* M GLASS + U MOELLHUSEN\nDetails: \nis a duo formed by Ira Hadžić and Tarufu\, whose name combines “vibration” and kuu (emptiness). Their performance\, inspired by Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Mikrophonie I\, features gong and bone conduction\, exploring the subtle textures\, vibrations\, and spatial qualities of sound.\nThrough close amplification and the physical resonance of their instruments\, they create immersive environments that invite the audience to shift from passive hearing to active sensing—experiencing sound as a tangible presence. The duo explores the boundaries between form and formlessness\, engaging with thearchitectural space that both shapes and is shaped by sound.\nBio:\nTARAFU\nis a Japanese musician. His sound style seeks a way to dissolve the conventional concept of time by playing various objects with bone conductors and small speakers.\nhttps://www.tarufu.com\n\nIRA\nHadžić is a sound artist whose musical practice moves along the\nboundary between improvisation\, composition\, and introspection. She works with gongs\, radiophonic pieces\, field recordings\, voices\, resonances\, simple sonic gestures\, and silence as an expressive form in its own right.\nIrahadzic.com\nhttps://ir-a.bandcamp.com/\n\nwww.tarufu.com\n___________\nDORA BLEU & CEDRIK FERMONT\ncreate dreamlike atmospheres that explore imperialized psychic struggles against reproducing colonial realities. Together with Periklis Tsoukalas\, their trio has recently released an emotionally intense being of sound\, tone\, noise\, music and voice\, on the Syrphe label.\nDORA has worked with a variety of musicians such as Sam Shalabi and Marc Ribot\, and has been performing and touring for over 20 years.\nCEDRIK FERMONT (also known as C-drík Fermont or Kirdec) is a former student of electro-acoustic composer Annette Vande Gorne (Royal Conservatory of Mons\, Belgium). In 2017\, he was co-awarded the prestigious Golden Nica Prix Ars Electronica in digital musics and sound art.\nTrio (from the forthcoming 2024 release): https://soundcloud.com/dora-bleu/lion-and-mouse\nDora: https://dorableu.wixsite.com/dorableu\nCedrik: http://syrphe.com/c-drik.html \n__________\nGLASS – MOELLHUSEN\n” first time” collaboration.\nan expansive sound action with objects\, motors\, body\, movements and feedbacks. . . . :\nMAXIMILIAN GLASS\nsound artist\nworks in the fields of experimental and (electro-)acoustic music\, creating sound installations\, performances\, and site-specific interactions. His practice is shaped by free improvisation and chance\, using mechanical systems\, feedback devices\, objects and snare drum to explore tactile sound processes and spatial listening.\nhttps://www.maximilianglass.com/about\nU MOELLHUSEN\na visual-\, sound- and action-artist\, composer and besides organizer of exhibitions\, and performance festivals.\nHe is currently working on the interrelation of cognition – action – sound\, or physical action as a compositional impulse for a sound event.\nHe performs exclusively with misappropriated objects/material found on the street and calls it “poor music”.\nHe refuses to perfect his music: ” mastery is the direct path to normality”.\nIt is an escape from the prison of repetition into the vastness of irregularity and dirt.\nThe impulse that emanates from the unexpected is his stimulus.\nhttps://elektroakustischegarage.bandcamp.com/album/zeugen-einer-untergehenden-kultur\n_____________\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1248024849685774/

SUMMARY:FOUR PLAY 9th ANNIVERSARY
DESCRIPTION:⫸ English\n⫸⫸ ABOUT FOUR PLAY ⫸⫸\nThe Four Play project was born in spring 2016 in order to breach the all-too-serious walls of those days’ Berlin kinky and sex-positive scenes\, and to allow the young and the inexperienced to experiment with many aspects of the kinky lifestyle and their own sexuality in a safe\, moderated environment. With dozens of artists who perform at each event\, the Four Play is to be perceived more as a festival than as merely a party. Since the event received its residency at the notorious Kitkat Club\, it spreads over five or six dance floors\, and multiple other performative areas. Along a carefully-curated\, extremely diverse musical program featuring Techno\, House\, Disco\, Psytrance and even Jazz and Soul\, the Four Play offers performative interactive activities\, either in stations around the club\, or as shows that are integrated into the musical program. At the Four Play\, we expect our guests to express themselves in their choice of outfits\, as well as in the program throughout the night. Our emphasis strongly lies on consent and communication. A large\, dedicated awareness team escorts each event\, and while we highly encourage our guests to interact with one another\, we also require each interaction to be consensual and respectful.\n⫸⫸ WHAT TO EXPECT ⫸⫸\n▻ High-end Techno journey on the Main Floor\, happy modern interpretations of House music in the Dragon Floor\, Psytrance in the small Séparée cellar\, Disco in the Prisma Bar (when open)\, Jazz and Blues in Salon Rouge\, alternating style in the 4th Room (large basement).\n▻ Around 80 Performances\, walking acts and Workshops.\n▻ A Kinky Marketplace to upgrade your outfits.\n▻ Hedonistic safe space for kinksters and LGTBQ.\n▻ A large\, highly dedicated Awareness Team.\n⫸⫸ MUST READ ⫸⫸\n▻ NO PRESALE. Tickets only at the door.\n▻ The Four Play has a strict no-photo and no phone policy. We have a designated photobooth with our photographer\, where photos can be taken of those who wish for it.\n▻ The Four Play is a safe space for any ethnicity\, gender or sexual orientation. Any sign of racism\, antisemitism\, sexism\, or homophobia will not be tolerated.\n▻ You are to respect the personal space of any fellow dancer. In case you feel that you have been treated wrongly\, or that your space has been violated\, please notify our awareness team or our staff immediately.\n⫸⫸ DRESS CODE ⫸⫸\nKinky style: Latex\, leather\, PVC\, vinyl.\nSexy style: Lingerie\, mesh\, sexy swimwear.\nNatural style: Naked or naked with tape\, Garden of Eden style\, ancient Rome style.\nCreative: Wild costumes\, super-heroes\, glittery festival style.\nTips:\n1. Sneakers are okay\, as long as they fit the outfit.\n4. Black outfits are okay\, yet we warmly welcome color and creativity.\n5. Denim is an absolute no-go.\n6. Use accessories to upgrade your look: chokers\, harnesses\, chains etc.\n⫸⫸ FAQ ⫸⫸\n1. Can single or groups of male-read people join the party?\n– In general\, women-read people and queers are rarely a threat to fellow guests in sex-positive event. Male-read people are more carefully selected\, and would have to be able to prove acquaintance with the guidelines of consent.\n2. Is the usual Kitkat dress code enough?\n– Yes\, it is\, however\, we encourage you to make a creative effort to express your personality\, and to adapt to the Four Play colourful character.\n3. Am I allowed to masturbate next\, or in front of people or playful couples?\n– No\, you’re not. Solo-Wankers are not welcomed at the Four Play and without explicit consent\, are considered an harassment.\n4. What do I do if I or someone around me feel uncomfortable or mistreated?\n– Please report that to our Awareness Team immediately. SUMMARY:Re-connect Art 2025: WELL-BEING
DESCRIPTION:The fifth edition of the Re-connect Art contemporary art festival will focus on Well Being this year. The festival will take place from 5 to 15 June in the gallery and outdoor area of the Veleslavín Chateau. In addition to an art exhibition\, there will be live performances\, artist talks\, a debate\, and therapeutic and self-care sessions. \nThe project aims to highlight the imbalance between life and work\, the need for rest and self-care\, as well as care for immaterial values. Through artistic interventions\, we will respond to the history and present of the Veleslavín chateau and its surrounding gardens. \nA pressing need to restore respect for physical and mental health\, self-care and care for life in the community\, is demonstrated by the magnificent cultural monument such as the Veleslavín Castle\, which until recently had been closed to the public for a number of years and was dilapidated.\nThe theme of well-being is deeply connected to the essence of art itself. Art is a nourishing form of self-care\, a cultivation of values\, an occasion for socializing\, a mechanism for social self-reflection\, and an irreplaceable source of spiritual nourishment. Today\, however\, we encounter its underappreciation and undervaluation\, which results in a shared experience of exhaustion in the art sector. The creation of art and its mediation is usually a very demanding endeavor\, connected not only with the creative process itself\, but also with a number of other activities—administrative\, organizational\, and operational. Artists often find themselves on the brink of their material\, physical\, and mental strength\, and given the tradition of low valuation of cultural production and the lack of legislative support in our country\, they face existential questions.\nTherefore\, the festival addresses this problem through artistic interventions and also includes elements that expose the precariousness of cultural workers\, using the festival itself as an example.\nCurators: Elis Unique\, Tereza Nováková\, Barbora Trnková\, Veronika Zapletalová.\nParticipating artists: Eliška Šárková\, Martin Zetová\, Phila Primus\, Vladimír Turner\, Libuše Vendlová\, Darina Alster + Peter Bill + Viktor Takáč + Magdaléna Šipka\, Matyáš Grimmich\, Petra Pětiletá\, Jatun Risba\, Viktor Takáč\, Jana Orlová\, Yustin Castillo\n🩵 🏵️ ❇️\nExhibition 5. 6. – 15. 6. 2025\nOpening hours:\nMon – Fri 15.00 – 18.00\nSat – Sun 13.00 – 18.00\n\n5. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n6:00 Opening ceremony of the exhibition /Phila Primus\, Vladimír Turner\, Libuše Vendlová\, Darina Alster\, Peter Bill\, Eliška Šárková\, Jatun Risba\, Jana Orlová\, Viktor Takáč\, Petra Pětiletá/\n7:00 Live performance /Martin Zetová/\n\n7. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n16:30 Somatic meditation session /Yustin Castillo/\n17:00 Live group performance Tree of Life / Darina Alster\, Peter Bill\, Viktor Takáč\, Madgaléna Šipka and collective/\n\n11. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n17:30 Artist Talk and discussion / Vladimír Turner/\n18:00 Advisory circle / Matyáš Grimmich/\nThe festival will feature workshops for schoolchildren led by artist Libuše Vendlová.\n🩵 🏵️ ❇️\nRe-connect Art is an international festival of art and life that focuses on supporting live art\, new media creation\, and audience development through interactive and participatory artistic approaches.\nThe festival is being held with the kind support of the Prague Biennale Foundation. The project has received financial support from the State Fund for Culture of the Czech Republic. Prague 6 Municipal District has provided free access to the castle and cultural activities.\nThe event is being held thanks to the voluntary participation of the project’s authors\, artists and participants\, whose unpaid work is a contribution to our common well-being.\nThe current program can be found at: www.re-connect.art\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1787888085104112/

SUMMARY:Lygia Clark: Performances | #1 Tunnel | Lebensstrukturen
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the Lygia Clark retrospective\, selected group performances by the artist will be reinterpreted live in the exhibition space.\n📍Thursdays\, 5:30–7:30 pm\n📍Sundays\, 12:00–2:00 pm\nParticipation is free with a valid ticket. Please note that times may vary slightly.\nTunnel\, 1968\nTwo people move from different sides through a narrow\, flexible fabric tunnel 50 meters long. They have to crawl past each other to reach the exit on the other side. This creates a constricting feeling and evokes associations with a birth canal. If the participants feel too suffocated by the fabric\, Clark cuts holes in the cloth through which they can breathe. This allows the people in the tunnel to receive help from the outside – a process that Clark also associates with childbirth.\nLife structures\, 1966\nThis net made of rubber bands is activated by a group. Several participants place their hands and feet\, or their entire body\, in the net at different points and move around the room. Every movement made by one person has an effect on all the others. Everyone is connected and the group feels like a collective body.\nFind more info here:\nhttps://www.smb.museum/en/events/detail/tunnel-life-structures-2025-05-25-120000-150193/\nLygia Clark: Canibalismo\, 1969 © Associação Cultural O Mundo de Lygia Clark / Eduardo Clark\, 1973\n#neuenationalgalerie #lygiaclark #performances\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/724874426729276/?event_time_id=724874473395938
