SUMMARY:Mary Ocher | "Weimar" Berlin Piano album release show + panel talk
DESCRIPTION:Adventurous Berlin artist Mary Ocher returns with a surprising piano record\, “Weimar”\, her most intimate record to date\, released the same day as the album’s one-off Berlin homecoming show (13.3)\, followed by dates in the UK and all over Europe.\nWritten on a classic instrument from the 1870s\, marking a departure from experimentation with post-punk\, folk\, ambient and field recordings.\n“Weimar” draws on 20th-century minimalism\, chamber-pop\, and modern classical. Yet it remains unmistakably Ocher\, thoughtful and grounded in emotional depth. The title “Weimar” alludes to the current era\, echoing the fall of the Weimar Republic a century ago and the shadow of fascism that rose in its wake.\nFollowing extensive touring across Europe\, the UK\, Australia\, North America and New Zealand\, and a catalog celebrated by The Quietus\, The Wire\, TAZ\, Fader\, Paste\, Libération\, and others\, Ocher stands at a pivotal moment. As nationalism\, censorship\, and cultural fragmentation rise the world over\, her examinations of identity\, fear\, and belonging feel absolutely essential.\nThe show features a special guest\, and a panel on individual freedoms and censorship in the past 100 years vs today.\nThe first Single/Video “The Dance” (Release date 8.1.2025):\n\nPresale start: 8.1.2026\nPresented by ByteFM\nPre-order the album + join the listening party (7.3): https://maryocher.bandcamp.com/album/weimar\nRelease Tour Event:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/4343357645941504/\nFull release tour dates\, tickets and updates:\nhttps://maryocher.com/shows\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/3162016350626569/

SUMMARY:8MM & Shameless/Limitless Present: Farao (Oslo)
DESCRIPTION:8MM & Shameless/Limitless proudly present Oslo’s pure-o purveyor of magical thinking\, Farao.\n—\nThe bio:\nFarao is the musical alter ego of Norwegian producer and vocalist Kari Jahnsen\, who crafts a lush sonic realm where smooth 90s R&B\, sensual 80s disco\, ambient spiritual jazz\, and shimmering layers of zithers intertwine – imagine Janet Jackson meets Alice Coltrane. Having captivated crowds at Roskilde\, SXSW\, Øya\, and Green Man\, Farao’s live performance draws audiences into a dreamlike\, rhythmic landscape.\n‘Magical Thinking’\, Farao’s third studio album\, was released November 2024 and includes a collaboration with ambient pioneer Laraaji. The record is a layered exploration of loss\, longing\, and hope. Rooted in the title and spirit of Joan Didion’s ‘The Year of Magical Thinking’\, the record moves through the space between denial and acceptance.\nSince her last solo album\, Farao co-founded and released two critically acclaimed records with disco duo Ultraflex\, winning Best Electronic Album at the Icelandic Music Awards – all while navigating the profound life transition of becoming a mother to two children.\nRecognised by Pitchfork\, The New York Times\, Clash\, and The Line of Best Fit\, Farao has performed at Roskilde\, SXSW\, Øya\, and Green Man.\n—\nFarao on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/faraomusic\n—\nTickets: https://shorturl.at/PJkhz\nDoors: 19:00\nShow: 20:45\nAftershow DJ: FRZNTE\n—\nAll aboard:\ninstagram.com/8mmbar\ninstagram.com/shamelesslimitless\nt.me/shamelesslimitless\nhttps://www.8mmbar.de\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/841483864949632/

SUMMARY:Look Up Here: Bowie\, 10 Years On - Remembering Bowie's Berlin Legacy
DESCRIPTION:Join writers Rory MacLean (Berlin: Imagine a City) & Demi Anter for an intimate performance/conversation in celebration of David Bowie.\nIn 1977\, a Canadian wannabe filmmaker travels to West Berlin for the job of a lifetime: working with David Bowie on the set of Just a Gigolo .\nIn 2016\, days after Bowie’s passing\, a fresh-faced Californian poet lands in the capital city and quickly finds she can’t escape her favorite musician’s legacy.\nIn 2026\, writers (and adopted Berliners) Rory MacLean and Demi Anter join forces for a special double act. Together they honor Bowie’s iconic Berlin era\, and reflect on how his journey through the city influenced their own.\nJoin us for an intimate evening of conversation and readings at Shakespeare & Sons Bookstore in Friedrichshain.\nSpace is limited\, early booking is encouraged. Books and drinks will be available for purchase. Suitable for all ages.\nAbout the speakers:\nFormer Berlin resident Rory MacLean worked with both Bowie and Marlene Dietrich\, and his books — which have been translated into a dozen languages — include UK top ten Stalin’s Nose \, Under the Dragon and Berlin: Imagine a City \, “the most extraordinary work of history I’ve ever read” said the Washington Post.\nCalifornia-native and Berlinerin since 2016\, Demi Anter is an extensively touring poet and creative writing facilitator\, with appearances at Glastonbury Festival\, Edinburgh Fringe\, Poetry Ireland\, the Scottish Storytelling Centre\, WABE and more. She regularly teaches on the subject of contemporary Berlin literature\, and facilitates workshops for London’s Irish Cultural Centre\, the National Theatre and others.\nRory and Demi debuted “Bowie in Berlin” — a performance and discussion of the creative icon and his Berlin sojourn — at the sold-out\, inaugural Sherborne Travel Writing Festival (UK) in 2023. This is their first performance together in Berlin.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1570575550649539/

SUMMARY:Lydia Lunch's Big Sexy Noise / Mellowdeath live at Neue Zukunft\, Berlin
DESCRIPTION:Positive Transmitter & Crunch Tapes present:\nLydia Lunch’s Big Sexy Noise live at Neue Zukunft\, Berlin\n8 February 2026\nDoors: 19:00 / Show: 20:00\nLydia Lunch returns — louder\, dirtier\, and more gloriously unhinged than ever.\nHer cult project Big Sexy Noise\, featuring James Johnston (Nick Cave\, PJ Harvey\, Faust) and Ian White (Barry Adamson\, Gallon Drunk)\, rises again to prove that real rock is still alive — feral\, sweaty\, and defiantly raunchy.\nForged in the fires of New York’s no wave scene\, Big Sexy Noise tears apart the blues-soaked muscle of 70s heavy rock\, flipping every cliché with brutal joy. Johnston’s molten guitar eruptions\, White’s sinfully grooving shuffle\, and Lunch’s unmistakable venomous snarl collide into a sound that is both primal and perversely ecstatic — a dirty\, sacred\, unstoppable force.\nIn January 2026\, In The Red Records (USA) teams up with Forte Distribution (UK) and Konkurrent (NL) to release the band’s new album Big Sexy Noise — Live in Italy: a fierce\, fearless\, “balls-to-the-wall” rock monsterpiece capturing the group at their most explosive.\nTo celebrate the release\, Big Sexy Noise reunite for a rare run of UK and European shows — and Berlin gets one of the very few chances to witness this sonic maelstrom up close.\nCritics have already hailed the band’s return as a blast of raw\, unapologetic power\, praising their ability to deliver rock with sweat\, swagger\, and sin — the way it was always meant to be.\nNow Berlin’s Neue Zukunft becomes the next battleground. Prepare yourself. Big Sexy Noise are back to tear the night wide open.\nSupport: Mellowdeath\nMellowdeath is an instrumental nightmare jazz duo featuring Sara Neidorf (Sarattma\, Mad Kate The Tide) on drums and Isabel Merten (No Chronicles) on bass. The duo sends the listener on a haunted hay ride through hypnotic rhythms\, ghost surf\, and dirges fit for a clown’s funeral. They will release their debut s/t full-length in November 2025.\nTickets avaiable: https://link.dice.fm/cd6e1c16a043\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/862980692840469/

SUMMARY:SKI\, TRAS\, Dead Zeppelins & Moniker Eggplant at Supamolly
DESCRIPTION:SKI\nFounded in 2022\, SKI is the solo project of Damian Kowalski\, evolving from its afro-jazz roots into minimalist\, intensely amplified arrangements with subtle modulations. Originally conceived as part of larger musical collaborations with KKZ and Rozwód\, these ideas have developed into the foundation for independent compositions.\nA breakthrough moment came with the recording of the first album\, soon to be released by Pointless Geometry. The music blends danceable rhythms with raw\, grainy textures\, embracing uncompromising creativity that captivates listeners. The production process focused on capturing the organic nature of playing an amplified drum kit—without metronomes or overdubs—resulting in a hypnotic yet expressive sound.\nSKI’s music echoes influences from UK bass\, UK dub\, footwork\, and techno\, yet remains direct and fresh\, avoiding pretentiousness and focusing on groove and the relationship between rhythm and feedback.\nhttps://pointless-geometry.bandcamp.com/album/ski-kre\nTRAS\nare TERESA RIEMANN & ASJA SKRINIK -> Crackling circuits\, throbbing drums\, alien choirs hum in the void.\nA lone rough ride through endless dust\, where the wind howls sharp\,\nwater whispers scarcity\, and the gas needle trembles.\nMind and pulse unravel in harm\,\nthe costume of nerves slips.\nThe road bends reckless — no brakes\, no fear.\nhttps://trastrastras.tumblr.com/\nDead Zeppelins\nModular Braindance from the outerverse of MEno Label\nhttps://menolabel.bandcamp.com/album/meno-005\nDJ Airdmun\nThe mastermind behind Moniker Eggplant your favourite recipe for chopped beats and sprinkled noises\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1459229142875200/

SUMMARY:Spider Piece
DESCRIPTION:„She traps things in her web; she embroiders her tiny corner of the universe“\n(Rachel Cusk\, Louise Bourgeois: Suites on Fabric\, 2019)\nMiia Rinne\, Mirka Raito\, Gosia Machon\, Niina Lehtonen Braun\, Piia Rinne\, Alice Chauchat\nFebruary 6–15\, 2026\nHilbertRaum\, Berlin\nOpening: Friday\, February 6\, 2026\, 6–10 pm\nwith the live installation River Eye by Piia Rinne & Miia Rinne\nDance piece: Alice Chauchat\, Sunday\, February 8\, 5 pm\nFinissage / Sunday Salon: Sunday\, February 15\, 2026\, 4–7 pm\nSPIDER PIECE brings together installative\, painterly\, performative\, and musical works that thread through the space like strands of a web. The exhibition sees the spider not merely as a metaphor\, but as a model of thinking and perception; an entity that embodies both productivity and captivity\, care and control\, sensitivity and ambivalence.\nThe pieces respond differently to recurrent motifs throughout art history—specifically the work of Louise Bourgeois—such as: the duality of motherhood\, corporeality\, and artistic labour. The spider is industrious\, precise\, enduring; it weaves structures out of itself that are at once shield\, archive\, and trap. It remains bound to one place\, yet perceives its surroundings with the utmost attention.\nThe participating artists contribute to the spider’s lexicon without defining it absolutely. Their works move between intimacy and display\, between inner sensations and outer structures. Here\, perception is not a stable state\, but something fragile and fluctuating—a constant spinning\, loosening\, and repairing.\nMiia Rinne develops a new installation for HilbertRaum that draws together elements of her earlier work Trapeze Net and extends them further atmospherically. Sound\, moving images\, and space interlock; audio material from C-cassettes becomes experienceable via headphones. Perception here becomes bodily\, selective\, and unreliable—a fabric of memory\, repetition\, and disturbance.\nMirka Raito’s pieces consider the phenomenon of ASMR: that difficult-to-describe tingling that can be triggered by whispering\, rustling\, or observing highly concentrated activities. In her work she examines ASMR as a threshold experience between space\, body\, and attention—between gently rushing past euphoria. Drawings\, objects\, and connective elements stretch into a quiet\, charged installation.\nGosia Machon presents small-format works on paper in which psychological states\, body images\, and natural scenes overlap. Her images appear at once open and condensed—like mental landscapes in which desire\, secrecy\, and reverence permeate one another.\nNiina Lehtonen Braun develops an installative arrangement of collages\, objects\, painting\, and stop-motion animation. The works unfold as a spatial narrative of images\, notes\, and associations in which layers\, ruptures\, and repetitions negotiate corporeality and experience.\nThe exhibition is further expanded through a series of performative interventions:\nAt the opening on 6 Feb\, Miia Rinne and Piia Rinne show a joint sound-video performance in which analogue cassette sounds\, tape loops\, and video material are live-woven together.\nOn Sunday\, 8 Feb\, Alice Chauchat performs a solo dance piece within the exhibition—a bodily engagement with space\, time\, and attention that temporarily sets the assembly of works in motion.\nSPIDER PIECE understands the exhibition space as a living structure: a place in which artistic processes\, bodies\, sounds\, and images touch\, become entangled\, and loosen again. A web that does not so much capture as make visible.\nText: Katharina Schilling\nTranslation: Sylvie Ringer\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/2298229287345679/

SUMMARY:Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music Vol. 35
DESCRIPTION:35th session of “Neu Berlin Institute of Improvised Music”:\nAt the celebrated Kühlspot The I n s t i t u t e is hosting a new improvisational session.\nWe welcome you!\nIn this case the opening group will be:\nDima Svist – electronics\nAli Onur Olgun – tenor saxophone\nPeter Balhar – drums\nZeynep Ayse Hatipoglu – cello\nAfter the opening group there will be put together sessions by the curator.\nDoors :19:00h\, Concert starts 19:30h\nMission: By bringing together different practices of improvisation\, we strive to open up the often isolated situation of music scenes to each other and prevent a structural conservatism that exists in the field of improvisation. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of ones “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. In our case we take the name away from an institution that was founded in Vienna in 2005 under the name “The Neu New York/Vienna Institute of Improvised Music” by the now deceased saxophonist Marco Eneidi and still exists as “Monday Improvisers Session” in Vienna. A warm invitation to you\, if you feel addressed\, and if you want to join this process as a listener!\nMIIMKD\nGraphic Design by Daphné Lejeune / https://lejeunedaphne.com/\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1428076615697532/

DESCRIPTION:8MM Live: THE MACKS (Portland\, USA)\nDoors: 19:00\nShowtime: 20:45\npresales: https://www.eventim-light.com/de/a/5f002783c9f8d46492128f51/e/6962444895a245200daf1d28\nThe Macks are a dynamic Portland\, Oregon rock band formed in 2015\, known for their raw\, heavy sound blending blues\, thrash\, and garage rock\, featuring brothers Ben & Josef Windheim\, Sam Fulwiler\, Jacob Michael Perris\, and Aidan Harrison. They gained acclaim as “Portland’s Best New Band” with albums like Rabbit and Dajiban\, building a reputation for “walloping heaviosity” and energetic live shows\, and are releasing Bonanza in late 2025\nThe Macks may have stumbled upon their Bonanza\, but there is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. It’s all about the grind\, baby! Steam locomotives accelerate faster than this band\, every action met with an equal and opposite reaction. For 10 years\, The Macks have been collecting disciples one at a time\, and now are delivering a record made for them. Focused\, scattered\, electric\, and tender\, ‘Bonanza’ is a collection of miscellaneous rock that could only have been crafted by this dedicated and bull-headedly sincere troupe of desparate artists. First time listeners will be met with honest writing\, bold production\, and a world that invites them to join in on the good fortune – just don’t expect any money.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/4121517598113940/

SUMMARY:Rene MG – Every(w)here is Here - Participatory Interactive Performance
DESCRIPTION:American multidisciplinary artist Rene MG invites visitors into a participatory performance and installation that links the artspace’s interior to the immediate life of the street. Titled “Every(w)here is Here\,” the event directs attention to a stretch of Kottbusser Damm\, treated as a historical seam between Neukölln and Kreuzberg\, shaped by successive waves of settlement\, labor\, and migration.\nWorking with conversation\, guided prompts\, streaming\, and live projection\, the evening stages a shared encounter in which participants can step in\, facilitate\, or simply observe as the situation shifts. The heart of the setting is a window-facing livestream projection that acts as an optical membrane between inside and outside. Passers-by are invited to connect in real time\, so that viewpoints from the neighborhood enter the space directly\, accumulating into a changing composite of street-level experience and gallery presence.\nRene MG’s aims for her event to be an opportunity “to connect\, converse\, intersect\, resonate about a specific place\,” and its history\, and an attempt to bridge people’s understanding of what art is and can be.\nAbout Rene MG:\nRene MG (b. 1965\, USA) is a Saint Paul\, Minnesota-based artist working across participatory performance\, installation\, and film. She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from UNC Chapel Hill\, an MA in Art History (20th-century art and film) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\, completed doctoral coursework at Heidelberg University (ABD)\, and received an MFA from Transart Institute for Creative Research (2023\, sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University). Her participatory projects have been presented internationally and in public-facing contexts in the US\, and her film work has been recognized at the Heidelberg Film Festival.\nDetails:\nTuesday\, February 3\, 6–9 p.m.\nPerformance start: 7 p.m.\nSomoS Arts\, Kottbusser Damm 95\, Berlin\nU-8 Schönleinstrasse\nFree entry\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1414574564013811/

SUMMARY:Splitter Orchester Site Specific Part 4: Splitter Orchester
DESCRIPTION:Splitter Orchester is returning to silent green’s iconic Kuppelhalle for the fourth and final installment of its site specific concert series. The orchestra has played in this architecture before\, and those who have been there in November 2019 know what they are in for. Back then the orchestra was distributed on the balconies of Kuppelhalle\, creating two circles stacked over each other high above the audience’s heads. The setup allowed for a crystal clear sound perception for everyone in the space\, both musician and listener alike. As the many axes of listening unfolded\, so did a massive piece of music\, considered by many to be one of the best performances of Splitter Orchester to date. The recording of Vortex has been released on last year’s 3CD compilation splitter musik\, out on Hyperdelia.\nThough completely improvised\, the music was strangely accompanied by the feeling that this was not an improvisation at all – but rather a delicately thought out work of music\, created in the moment by a collective consciousness.\nThe return of Splitter Orchester to Kuppelhalle is not about trying to recreate this particular moment\, but about revisiting the space with the distance of the last six years that have passed. The world and the orchestra have changed radically since 2019\, nothing is the same anymore. This disposition together with a space that is nothing short of perfect to experience the sheer musical power of Splitter Orchester is the recipe for this very special evening\, marking the finale of Splitters 2025 site specific concert series.\nSplitter Orchester is:\nBurkhard Beins | percussion\, Roy Carroll | electronics\, Anat Cohavi | clarinet\, Axel Dörner | trumpet\, Sabine Ercklentz | trumpet and electronics\, Kai Fagaschinski | clarinet\, Emilio Gordoa | percussion\, Robin Hayward | tuba\, Steve Heather | percussion\, Chris Heenan | contra bass clarinet\, Mike Majkowski | double bass\, Matthias Müller | trombone\, Andrea Neumann | inside piano\, Andrea Parkins | electronics and accordion\, Michael Thieke | clarinet\, Sabine Vogel | flutes\, Biliana Voutchkova | violin\, Marta Zapparoli | tape machines and antennas.\nSupported by the German Capitol Cultural Fund.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1285226786568920/

SUMMARY:Molly Nilsson - SO36\, Berlin
DESCRIPTION:Puschen and Shameless/Limitless proudly present Molly Nilsson.\nThe show is sold out / das Konzert ist ausverkauft.\nEinlass: 19h\, Beginn: 20h\nAmateur is the 12th studio album by Molly Nilsson. Deep in the teeth of a career that threatens to tip into something resembling a “legacy\,” Molly Nilsson celebrates with an album recorded instinctively\, quickly and bursting with so many moments of emotional brilliance and clarity it may be her greatest yet. Hers has been a career spent reaching out\, perennially powerful in her earnestness\, a warrior ridiculously defenceless and armed with a glittering sincerity. Shearing herself of the machinations of the music industry\, recording at home\, writing direct to the heart.\nThere are moments on Amateur shrouded in reverb\, slightly out of focus\, forcing the listener to step deeper into the Mollyverse.. Nilsson’s open-armed beseeching to the world permeates every beat\, every chord. These are songs exploding with life: the chunky\, aggressive bassline on the punker Get A Life can’t hide its massive\, catchy chorus. The sweeping Swedish Nightmare might be a tongue-in-cheek self-reference\, but at its heart it’s a song about the duality of living life large\, what is a dream\, what is a nightmare? Molly Nilsson says you can’t have one without the other\, and why would you want to?\n++++++++\nSubscribe to the Puschen BERLIN NEWSLETTER to receive regular updates and win tickets: http://eepurl.com/dvBmBD\nListen to the Puschen SPOTIFY PLAYLIST on https://sptfy.com/d2NZ\nShameless/Limitless\nTelegram: t.me/shamelesslimitless\nIG: shamelesslimitless\n++++++++\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1103346805246469/

He had played guitar and bass in post-punk and punk bands but in 2010 he found\, upon his transition to a new city\, that he could create music singularly with synthesizers and drum machines. His songs explore themes of disillusion\, disappointment with religious views\, war and lost love utopias. Poupée Mecanik (vocals\, theremin) plays with female archetypes\, coupling subversion with irony. Guitarist Jon Von\, x-Rip Offs\, has transformed the band with new songs somewhere between the Ramones and the Avengers!\nThe LPs on Topsy-Turvy records and 45 on Outro Records cover subjects from B-movies\, drugs and perversion to politics\, sexism and gender freedom.\n—\n“Ah\, The almighty ROXIES! There are not sufficient words in the English language to convey how much I love this Berlin-based band. They have a new album called Keep You Up At Night releasing in March on Flight 13 and Dirt Cult Records — and I’m stoked\, of course! In advance of the album\, new single “Animals” is vintage Roxies — a head-on collision of power pop and old school punk with infectious hooks and thoughtful lyrics “about self-determination\, humanity and equality.” What’s not to love? Once again\, the legendary SmaiL ShocK is on hand for recording and mixing duties\, and the track sounds great!
