DESCRIPTION:With the Artist’s Say collective\, curated by Jania Artyjanes \nOpening: January 6\, 6 – 9 pm\nOpen Thursdays to Sundays\, 4 – 8 pm\nRuns until January 29 \nWe are ArtistsSay\, a Berlin-based community of women artists from Russia\, Ukraine\, Kazakhstan and Belarus. \nWe have been organizing art exhibitions\, courses and meetings for Russian-speaking artists in Berlin for almost two years. Despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine\, which we are staunchly against\, and which has torn relations between our nations\, we want to show the world that artists from our countries\, who share the same values of humanism and empathy\, can work together and create beautiful things as a team. \nArtistsSay’s next exhibition is dedicated to our experience of emigration. It is different for each of us: for some it is a dark memory\, a culture shock\, for some it is just homesickness\, and for some of us it is a new bright chapter full of happiness. Sometimes we run from the darkness\, sometimes we follow the light. One thing we all have in common – emigration was a Rubicon that divided our lives into “before” and “after”. \nIn the course of this exhibition\, we will share with you our personal stories and life-changing experiences. What made us leave our country and what happens to a person when they realize they are leaving their entire life behind to start a new one in another part of the world. Political escape\, job opportunity\, breathtaking love story…. Every emigration experience is unique. We will share them with you in our artworks. There is a clear and renown avatar for the female rage\, the myth of Medusa\, a human woman who was raped by the god Poseidon and punished by Athena turning her into a monster\, a Gorgon.\nSoraya Chemaly wrote that anger has a deep purpose: “it is a moral smoke signal\, alerting us to inequality and injustice”. “Anger is loaded with information and energy\,” Audre Lorde said in 1981. And that ‘s why girls are trained to behave themselves and smile. To avoid them becoming an annoyance.\n\nI am tired of hiding my anger because it makes men uncomfortable. There is so much to be angry about.\n\nI want to honor the art of the baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi\, who was a master in giving an acting role to her female subjects\, not simple vessels of the basest instincts and other biblical or mythological characters to turn around that vision.To acknowledge our right to be enraged.

In London he has performed at Vauxhall \, Angel Comedy and Backyard\, where he won the Backyard Comedy Knockout competition. He also reached the semi finals of The Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year ‘22. He has opened for comedians such as Mike Rice and Reginald D Hunter. \n“The future of comedy. God help us” – David Mc Savage. \n— HOST – \nKat Nip (PL) \nKat is a comedian and a catholic-turned-alcoholic from Poland whose main hobbies include alcohol ‘research’\, chain-smoking filterless Lucky Strikes and grooming younger\, preferably ginger\, men. Kat’s performed all around the world\, from Quatsch Comedy Berlin to Cape Town and Bangkok Comedy Club. She hosts and produces a variety of shows in Berlin with her female collective QUEEN BEES COMEDY.\nShe was part of the writing team for Comedy Central DE (“Was ich eigentlich sagen wollte”\, 2021)\, Comedy Central PL (“Mini-Mocks”\, 2022)\, in which she also acted.
