SUMMARY:RATS ON RAFTS (post-punk/wave\, nl) + tba.
DESCRIPTION:puschen & little league shows prsnt:\nRATS ON RAFTS (post-punk/wave/indie\, nl) + tba.\nratsonrafts.bandcamp.com / instagram.com/ratsonrafts\nat Schokoladen. doors 19 uhr\, concert starts 20 uhr. tickets for the concert at the doors and in pre-sale –> vvk.link/3fsfsls\n—\nCurrently preparing for the release of their fourth album set for release in 2025\, RATS ON RAFTS’ new single ‘Hibernation’ is a rain-soaked lament to nature’s battered mortality\, a monochrome snapshot of the landscape played out in beautiful cold wave delay.\nFinding joy in self-isolation\, “I noticed that I could feel really comfortable with songs that can feel really heavy and isolated\,” says frontman David Fagan “ If you listen to a Joy Division record for example\, for a lot of people they’re really downcast. But for some people it’s like stepping into a really warm bath\, because you can really identify with that music. I think that’s also what’s going on with ‘Hibernation’. I could identify with the coldness of the atmosphere\, and that languid feeling of that song.”\nFollowing 2021’s exceptional ‘Excerpts From Chapter 3’ with its plagues\, dreams\, modal guitars\, and mesmerising mantras\, new single ‘Hibernation’ descends further into a brooding wasteland.\n“I think this song really is a good example of what our new record sounds like. Slowing everything down as much as possible gives it a lot of space. The sound of the Soundcraft 1S mixing desk we used to record the album\, close to the version Lee Perry used to mix his famous black ark records\, works really well for the dub side of the song but also the doom side. This song and the record in general are not romanticizing this “darkness” as much as accepting it’s part of our persona/character.”\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/546641681366284/

SUMMARY:Poetic Hafla - Spring Edition
DESCRIPTION:Poetic Hafla (arab. for party) is an event series that focusses on presenting middle eastern/mediterranian artists based in Berlin.\nThe main idea of the Poetic Hafla is creating a place to experiment and to share ideas. This idea is complemented with many artistic forms of expression: readings\, music\, stand-up comedy\, and performances.\nThe organisers say about themselves and their artists: “We are Mediterranian – a sea!”\, referring to the diversity of backgrounds\, expressions\, aesthetics and contributions. The event series shows the liveliness of Middle Eastern culture and the importance of Berlin as a cultural hub and home of the many. The Poetic Hafla provides a safe/brave space that is all about listening\, embracing\, sharing\, appreciating each other and coming together.\nPoetic Hafla was founded in 2015 by Barack Moyal and Mati Shemoelof\, two Israeli/German artists and authors who live in Berlin. Poetic Hafla is held mostly in English\, Arabic and Hebrew.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1157515192445290/

SUMMARY:The Sub_Bar Show #1: Air pressure and Vibrations\, for Deaf and hearing dreamers
DESCRIPTION:Towards the end of 2021\, a small group of nearly 30 people in Berlin experienced something they had never experienced before: for around three hours\, they remained in a venue where the air pressure variations created by special compositions played through subwoofers immersed their bodies and hijacked their focus\, leading them into another state of mind.\nA few months later\, nearly 100 people in Lisbon went through the same process. Some cried in liberation\, one left in panic\, and a few fell asleep. Yet\, about 95% of them left the venue reporting what became the most recurring feedback:\n🗣 “I feel like my mind and my body are one.”\nThe music was created by both Deaf and hearing artists. The vibrations embraced them from head to toe\, and the sensation felt as if it was coming from inside—a familiar\, visceral\, yet entirely new mix of silence and music.\nThese were the first showcases of Sub_Bar music. Over the years\, rising Deaf talents trained with established artists at Sub_Bar Academy\, working exclusively with low frequencies. Some of them went on to perform at major music stages\, including ADE Festival in Amsterdam\, Silent Green in Berlin\, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Serralves.\nThere are no recordings of these shows—because they are ephemeral. You cannot simply watch them or listen to them at home.\nNow\, The Sub_Bar Show #1\, premiering this April in nearly 30 cities worldwide\, marks the final step of this long journey—from 0 to 1\, establishing a new music style for the sense of touch and a ritual that brings together Deaf and hearing communities. With international names like Efdemin\, Reboot\, Felicity Mangan\, Byetone\, Roberto Musci\, Stefanie Egedy\, Terence Fixmer\, Amma Atera\, and Petre Inspirescu behind its ever-growing catalog\, the Sub_Bar Show is simply a new reason to meet and enjoy stories—just like concerts\, poetry nights\, or cinema.\nThe show is presented in various sign languages and translated into International Sign\, subtitles\, and sometimes audio.\nSit down\, close your eyes\, and relax. One day\, you can say you were at the first one.\nFor more information:\n📲 IG: @subbar.eufonia\n🌐 Web: www.subbar.net\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/656585987176921/

SUMMARY:Ten Ways to Relax During a Nuclear Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:Ten Ways to Relax During a Nuclear Apocalypse\nSolo Show by Vincent Pfäfflin \nOpening on May 1\, 2025\, 6 – 9 p.m. \nExhibition from 1.5. to 4.5. \nOpening hours: 3 – 7 p.m.\, Friday\, Saturday and Sunday \nVincent Pfäfflin is a German-American artist and stand-up comedian. Growing up in the USA and now living in Berlin\, he is shaped by an outside view of German society. He became known for his laconic stage programs and appearances on TV Total\, NightWash and as the winner of the RTL Comedy Grand Prix. In addition to his comedy\, Pfäfflin also creates visual art – often in the field of tension between street art\, pop culture and personal reflection. Between 2012 and 2015\, he was active as a street Art_Künstler under the pseudonym ‘Peter Pink’ – with temporary installations\, interventions in urban space and paintings\, some of which were published internationally in magazines and online. \nThe exhibition shows Vincent Pfäfflin’s visual works beyond the stage – independent works between street art\, comics and pop aesthetics. In his paintings\, reduced lines\, two-dimensional colouring and pointed lettering come together. Pfäfflin uses graphic means from the world of comics to get to the heart of everyday moments\, absurdities and emotional miniatures. His works are often reminiscent of urban interventions: quickly thrown\, but closely observed. In terms of content\, the works oscillate between wit and melancholy\, between laconic commentary and quiet irritation. They provide insight into fragmented thinking – spontaneous\, sharp\, sometimes almost casual\, but never arbitrary. The works seem like frozen thought bubbles in public space\, humorous and at the same time deeply anchored in the now.

SUMMARY:Viagra Boys - Berlin - Columbiahalle
DESCRIPTION:18.30 Einlass\n20:00 Beginn\nTickets ab 12.12.2024 um 10h bei TixForGigs! \nViagra Boys are a band that weaponizes absurdity—tossing firecrackers into the middle of the room and standing around to see the reaction. Led by frontman Sebastian Murphy\, whose voice is a compelling blend of impish smirk and smoker’s rasp\, the band is known for its seething satire and darkly comic edge\, encapsulating a unique blend of grit and sleaze. Murphy’s lyrics often reflect on the absurdity and backwardness of the modern world\, though he avoids prescribing beliefs or taking sides. Therefore\, the band’s music is marked by a playful yet incisive critique of societal follies and contradictions\, set to heavy-weight\, explosive production. Viagra Boys have garnered significant success and acclaim\, performing sold-out shows worldwide\, including prestigious gigs at Coachella and Jimmy Kimmel. The band has received high ratings from Pitchfork\, NME and Kerrang!\, and notable recognitions\, including album of the year from The Needle Drop. Their impact extends to the Swedish music scene\, where they’ve won awards such as Album of the Year and Best Live Act at the Swedish Grammis & P3 Guld Awards\, highlighting their widespread appeal and influence.\nPräsentiert von Visions & FluxFM\nPhotocredit: Chris Shonting\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/938713434460378/

SUMMARY:15 of may minifest
DESCRIPTION:15 mini festival in Berlin will showcase experimental and underground music from Icelandic\, Berlin\, and U.S. artists. Taking place at Galiläa-Kirche\, this inclusive event fosters cultural exchange and community-building\, offering a platform for innovative\, genre-defying sound. With a focus on alternative music and DIY ethos\nRoberta WJM Andreucci is a percussionist\, an experimental producer and DJ\, and on air personality. She has more than twenty year of experience organizing and promoting alternative music events. She practices plagiarism and the cutting and mixing of musical and ambiental aural sources. Early in her career she started focusing on the use of voices and on vocal metalinguism\, focalizing on her personal practice of “cuttingandslicing” and on rhythm patterns obtained through an improper use of her tools of the trade (cdjs\, cd player\, md\, me mixer). Through the years her percussion set morphed into a hybrid encompassing a dj booth\, a radio dj one\, a microphone station for electroacustic experiments\, and a mnemonic butcher’s slab. She is a founding member of performing music units such as Jealousy Party\, Semerssuaq\, The Secretaries and Sistemi Audiofobici Burp. She is the director of the music label Burp Publications\n“G Lucas Crane is a sound artist\, designer\, performer\, and musician whose work focuses on media-chop-up collage\, tape manipulation\, sonic mind-control and time travel. His cassette-tape based archival sound practice explores the wild liminal spaces of hybrid analog sound worlds and new performance techniques for allegedly obsolete technology. His uniquely haunting Tape DJ style has been lent to a wide range of bands and projects over the last 25 years. In New York City\, he has variously performed at the Museum of Art and Design\, Pioneer Works\, Roulette Intermedium\, Issue Project Room and the Brooklyn Museum\, and he has toured nationally and internationally as a tape-manipulation extraordinaire. He has been recognized for his sound design and compositions with a Henry Hewes award and a Bessie nomination\, and was the co-founder of Silent Barn\, one of the largest collectivist art space projects in recent history. He received a masters in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the Universitat der Kunste in 2023.”\nSvartþoka is an experimental/electronic/metal trio located in Reykjavík\, Iceland. The unique\nthree piece has cemented their place in the Icelandic metal scene through evocative and\nemotive live performances. Utilising guitar drones akin to Sunn O))) accompanied by\ntheremin and a drum machine alongside a creative use of voices\, the witches of Svartþoka\nbring a unique sound hitherto unheard in the Icelandic metal scene.\nShane Palmer – My work explores the intersection of nature\, technology\, and sensory experience\, using creative coding\, analog video\, and music synthesis to build immersive\, interactive environments. Drawing from a background in painting\, performance\, and sound\, I create installations that invite audience participation—where touch\, light\, and movement influence the harmonic and visual composition. I’m fascinated by the way technology can reveal hidden patterns in the natural world. Using haptic sensors\, custom-built circuits\, and modular synthesis\, I craft works that respond to environmental shifts\, translating them into evolving sonic and visual landscapes. My encaustic paintings\, embedded with conductive materials\, function both as traditional artworks and interactive instruments\, blurring the line between fine art and experimental music. Like my visual work\, my music takes time to unfold\, revealing itself through layered drones and wandering loops. These slow-building sonic environments allow for moments of stillness\, deep listening\, and unexpected resonance. At its core\, my practice is about connection—between past and present\, physical and digital\, structure and chance. Whether through generative visuals\, site-specific installations\, or live performances\, I aim to create spaces where people can slow down\, listen deeply\, and engage with the unseen rhythms of their surroundings.\n“Novo Line is the project of Berlin-based artist Nathaniel Fowler\, a sonic alchemist whose career spans continents and genres. From his days as guitarist in the avant-garde math-rock band Oxes\, known for their blistering toursand situationist humor\, to his current explorations of algorithmic composition fused with live improvisation\, Fowler’s work defies easy categorization. Rooted in the spirit of fluxus\, early industrial\, and modern composition\, Novo Line has built dynamic practice built on obsolete hardware and the game of chance\, indeed stealing the name from the Novomatic brand digital slot machines that have polluted Berlin street corners for decades. He has confounded audiences at festivals including CTM\, Fusion\, and Camp Cosmic\, on stage with indie giants such as Future Islands and Lower Dens\, while also cultivating site-specific works across Europe like music for the C3 Acousmonium in Milan. Echoing the pioneering innovations of Raymond Scott’s Electronium\, there is a sublime integration of retro hardware and post-modern sensibility. Live this time to perform using approaches developed for his latest album Artifact\, well known earworms are sampled directly off vinyl onto archaic samplers\, then listeners are invited to embark on a liminal journey —where the boundaries of music\, memory\, and imagination blur into an expansive psychoacoustic dreamscape.”\nL. Zylberberg (* 1980\, BfA Honours: Drawing) is an artist\, producer and audio engineer currently working with music and sound. She has performed all over Central Europe\, as well as Kazakhstan\, China and Georgia amongst many others\, is a resident of Sameheads\, Berlin as well as Mutant Radio\, Tbilisi. She recently released her her on Präsens Editionen\, her first album. “Her her is a meticulously-crafted egress into a sonic world that is at times tense\, lush\, dense\, and sometimes just hush.”\nBlanket of Death is a duo consisting of Nicolas Liebing and Ester Bíbí Ásgeirsdóttir. Nicolas has been involved in music creation from a young age\, collaborating with diverse musicians and deeply immersing himself in film scoring and sound design. Ester Bíbí has pursued music and creative arts since childhood\, notably with bands such as Kolrassa Krókríðandi\, Bellatrix\, and Singapore Sling.\nThe couple has quietly created music together for years\, characterized by dark electronic sounds driven by electrified analog instruments and mesmerizing sonic textures that create a uniquely captivating experience. Until now\, Blanket of Death’s music has only surfaced publicly in the hands of underground DJs in cities like Los Angeles\, Reykjavík\, and Berlin. Collaborating with various musicians over the years\, the duo has refined their sound into a compelling\, addictive blend that won’t let you go.\nKatrin Inga Jonsdottir Hjordisardottir is an interdisciplinary artist who explores contemporary societal structures through various artistic media. Her work frequently examines systemic phenomena\, offering a thought-provoking perspective that encourages critical reflection within everyday life. With a distinctive approach\, she balances depth and insight with a sense of subtle humor\, engaging audiences in meaningful dialogue.\nFuni Berglindarson Gunnarsson\, graduated from elementary school in 2015 and has not completed any other formal education. He has been involved in music creation all his life both independently and in collaboration with others. Formerly in the group Rari boy\, Funi co-founded the artist collective NEF (Never Ending Fun)\, which worked to promote artists. As part of this collaboration\, Funi released the EP Still Rappin Still Ignorant. Funi has performed publicly at a variety of events from high school dances to nightclubs. He is working on a 14-track album with accompanying visual art\, named Nútíðarfónía. Funis soundscape can best be described as sincere pop that meets melodic trap and emotional pop-punk.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/4091604921083803/
