DESCRIPTION:Britt Boutros-Ghali’s first solo exhibition in Germany since the 1970s.\nA world-renowned artist\, Britt Boutros-Ghali’s follows in the tradition of abstract expressionist and colorfield pioneers such as Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell\, bringing a unique energy to her dynamic\, large-scale paintings.\n\n\nBorn in Norway in 1937\, Britt’s art is deeply influenced by the dramatic light of her homeland and her formative experiences during World War II. SUMMARY:Ten Ways to Relax During a Nuclear Apocalypse
DESCRIPTION:Ten Ways to Relax During a Nuclear Apocalypse\nSolo Show by Vincent Pfäfflin \nOpening on May 1\, 2025\, 6 – 9 p.m. \nExhibition from 1.5. to 4.5. \nOpening hours: 3 – 7 p.m.\, Friday\, Saturday and Sunday \nVincent Pfäfflin is a German-American artist and stand-up comedian. Growing up in the USA and now living in Berlin\, he is shaped by an outside view of German society. He became known for his laconic stage programs and appearances on TV Total\, NightWash and as the winner of the RTL Comedy Grand Prix. In addition to his comedy\, Pfäfflin also creates visual art – often in the field of tension between street art\, pop culture and personal reflection. Between 2012 and 2015\, he was active as a street Art_Künstler under the pseudonym ‘Peter Pink’ – with temporary installations\, interventions in urban space and paintings\, some of which were published internationally in magazines and online. \nThe exhibition shows Vincent Pfäfflin’s visual works beyond the stage – independent works between street art\, comics and pop aesthetics. In his paintings\, reduced lines\, two-dimensional colouring and pointed lettering come together. Pfäfflin uses graphic means from the world of comics to get to the heart of everyday moments\, absurdities and emotional miniatures. His works are often reminiscent of urban interventions: quickly thrown\, but closely observed. In terms of content\, the works oscillate between wit and melancholy\, between laconic commentary and quiet irritation. They provide insight into fragmented thinking – spontaneous\, sharp\, sometimes almost casual\, but never arbitrary. The works seem like frozen thought bubbles in public space\, humorous and at the same time deeply anchored in the now.

SUMMARY:Viagra Boys - Berlin - Columbiahalle
DESCRIPTION:18.30 Einlass\n20:00 Beginn\nTickets ab 12.12.2024 um 10h bei TixForGigs! \nViagra Boys are a band that weaponizes absurdity—tossing firecrackers into the middle of the room and standing around to see the reaction. Led by frontman Sebastian Murphy\, whose voice is a compelling blend of impish smirk and smoker’s rasp\, the band is known for its seething satire and darkly comic edge\, encapsulating a unique blend of grit and sleaze. Murphy’s lyrics often reflect on the absurdity and backwardness of the modern world\, though he avoids prescribing beliefs or taking sides. Therefore\, the band’s music is marked by a playful yet incisive critique of societal follies and contradictions\, set to heavy-weight\, explosive production. Viagra Boys have garnered significant success and acclaim\, performing sold-out shows worldwide\, including prestigious gigs at Coachella and Jimmy Kimmel. The band has received high ratings from Pitchfork\, NME and Kerrang!\, and notable recognitions\, including album of the year from The Needle Drop. Their impact extends to the Swedish music scene\, where they’ve won awards such as Album of the Year and Best Live Act at the Swedish Grammis & P3 Guld Awards\, highlighting their widespread appeal and influence.\nPräsentiert von Visions & FluxFM\nPhotocredit: Chris Shonting\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/938713434460378/

DESCRIPTION:15 mini festival in Berlin will showcase experimental and underground music from Icelandic\, Berlin\, and U.S. artists. Taking place at Galiläa-Kirche\, this inclusive event fosters cultural exchange and community-building\, offering a platform for innovative\, genre-defying sound. With a focus on alternative music and DIY ethos\nRoberta WJM Andreucci is a percussionist\, an experimental producer and DJ\, and on air personality. She has more than twenty year of experience organizing and promoting alternative music events. She practices plagiarism and the cutting and mixing of musical and ambiental aural sources. Early in her career she started focusing on the use of voices and on vocal metalinguism\, focalizing on her personal practice of “cuttingandslicing” and on rhythm patterns obtained through an improper use of her tools of the trade (cdjs\, cd player\, md\, me mixer). Through the years her percussion set morphed into a hybrid encompassing a dj booth\, a radio dj one\, a microphone station for electroacustic experiments\, and a mnemonic butcher’s slab. She is a founding member of performing music units such as Jealousy Party\, Semerssuaq\, The Secretaries and Sistemi Audiofobici Burp. She is the director of the music label Burp Publications\n“G Lucas Crane is a sound artist\, designer\, performer\, and musician whose work focuses on media-chop-up collage\, tape manipulation\, sonic mind-control and time travel. His cassette-tape based archival sound practice explores the wild liminal spaces of hybrid analog sound worlds and new performance techniques for allegedly obsolete technology. His uniquely haunting Tape DJ style has been lent to a wide range of bands and projects over the last 25 years. In New York City\, he has variously performed at the Museum of Art and Design\, Pioneer Works\, Roulette Intermedium\, Issue Project Room and the Brooklyn Museum\, and he has toured nationally and internationally as a tape-manipulation extraordinaire. He has been recognized for his sound design and compositions with a Henry Hewes award and a Bessie nomination\, and was the co-founder of Silent Barn\, one of the largest collectivist art space projects in recent history. He received a masters in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts from the Universitat der Kunste in 2023.”\nSvartþoka is an experimental/electronic/metal trio located in Reykjavík\, Iceland. The unique\nthree piece has cemented their place in the Icelandic metal scene through evocative and\nemotive live performances. Utilising guitar drones akin to Sunn O))) accompanied by\ntheremin and a drum machine alongside a creative use of voices\, the witches of Svartþoka\nbring a unique sound hitherto unheard in the Icelandic metal scene.\nShane Palmer – My work explores the intersection of nature\, technology\, and sensory experience\, using creative coding\, analog video\, and music synthesis to build immersive\, interactive environments. Drawing from a background in painting\, performance\, and sound\, I create installations that invite audience participation—where touch\, light\, and movement influence the harmonic and visual composition. I’m fascinated by the way technology can reveal hidden patterns in the natural world. Using haptic sensors\, custom-built circuits\, and modular synthesis\, I craft works that respond to environmental shifts\, translating them into evolving sonic and visual landscapes. My encaustic paintings\, embedded with conductive materials\, function both as traditional artworks and interactive instruments\, blurring the line between fine art and experimental music. Like my visual work\, my music takes time to unfold\, revealing itself through layered drones and wandering loops. These slow-building sonic environments allow for moments of stillness\, deep listening\, and unexpected resonance. At its core\, my practice is about connection—between past and present\, physical and digital\, structure and chance. Whether through generative visuals\, site-specific installations\, or live performances\, I aim to create spaces where people can slow down\, listen deeply\, and engage with the unseen rhythms of their surroundings.\n“Novo Line is the project of Berlin-based artist Nathaniel Fowler\, a sonic alchemist whose career spans continents and genres. From his days as guitarist in the avant-garde math-rock band Oxes\, known for their blistering toursand situationist humor\, to his current explorations of algorithmic composition fused with live improvisation\, Fowler’s work defies easy categorization. Rooted in the spirit of fluxus\, early industrial\, and modern composition\, Novo Line has built dynamic practice built on obsolete hardware and the game of chance\, indeed stealing the name from the Novomatic brand digital slot machines that have polluted Berlin street corners for decades. He has confounded audiences at festivals including CTM\, Fusion\, and Camp Cosmic\, on stage with indie giants such as Future Islands and Lower Dens\, while also cultivating site-specific works across Europe like music for the C3 Acousmonium in Milan. Echoing the pioneering innovations of Raymond Scott’s Electronium\, there is a sublime integration of retro hardware and post-modern sensibility. Live this time to perform using approaches developed for his latest album Artifact\, well known earworms are sampled directly off vinyl onto archaic samplers\, then listeners are invited to embark on a liminal journey —where the boundaries of music\, memory\, and imagination blur into an expansive psychoacoustic dreamscape.”\nL. Zylberberg (* 1980\, BfA Honours: Drawing) is an artist\, producer and audio engineer currently working with music and sound. She has performed all over Central Europe\, as well as Kazakhstan\, China and Georgia amongst many others\, is a resident of Sameheads\, Berlin as well as Mutant Radio\, Tbilisi. She recently released her her on Präsens Editionen\, her first album. “Her her is a meticulously-crafted egress into a sonic world that is at times tense\, lush\, dense\, and sometimes just hush.”\nBlanket of Death is a duo consisting of Nicolas Liebing and Ester Bíbí Ásgeirsdóttir. Nicolas has been involved in music creation from a young age\, collaborating with diverse musicians and deeply immersing himself in film scoring and sound design. Ester Bíbí has pursued music and creative arts since childhood\, notably with bands such as Kolrassa Krókríðandi\, Bellatrix\, and Singapore Sling.\nThe couple has quietly created music together for years\, characterized by dark electronic sounds driven by electrified analog instruments and mesmerizing sonic textures that create a uniquely captivating experience. Until now\, Blanket of Death’s music has only surfaced publicly in the hands of underground DJs in cities like Los Angeles\, Reykjavík\, and Berlin. Collaborating with various musicians over the years\, the duo has refined their sound into a compelling\, addictive blend that won’t let you go.\nKatrin Inga Jonsdottir Hjordisardottir is an interdisciplinary artist who explores contemporary societal structures through various artistic media. Her work frequently examines systemic phenomena\, offering a thought-provoking perspective that encourages critical reflection within everyday life. With a distinctive approach\, she balances depth and insight with a sense of subtle humor\, engaging audiences in meaningful dialogue.\nFuni Berglindarson Gunnarsson\, graduated from elementary school in 2015 and has not completed any other formal education. He has been involved in music creation all his life both independently and in collaboration with others. Formerly in the group Rari boy\, Funi co-founded the artist collective NEF (Never Ending Fun)\, which worked to promote artists. As part of this collaboration\, Funi released the EP Still Rappin Still Ignorant. Funi has performed publicly at a variety of events from high school dances to nightclubs. He is working on a 14-track album with accompanying visual art\, named Nútíðarfónía. Funis soundscape can best be described as sincere pop that meets melodic trap and emotional pop-punk.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/4091604921083803/

SUMMARY:Bowie in Berlin
DESCRIPTION:Eight more performances of our successful show!\nThe second part of our series CONVERSATIONS WITH A CULTURAL ICON comes back again.\nIn the summer of 1976\, pop star David Bowie moves from Los Angeles to Berlin. Why Berlin? Was he attracted by the mixture of Weimar nostalgia\, isolated Wall city and niche location for the new music that would later be called Krautrock? In fact\, he created radically new music in Berlin in the following two years\, recorded both an anthem and a legendary album with “Heroes”\, made a curious Weimar-era film with Just a Gigolo\, and then disappeared into the pop-synthetic eighties.\n“The musical concept of Grosser’s evening works brilliantly …. Just as Bowie’s musical\, cinematic and fashionable work has lived from permanent transition and diversity of influence – ready to jump between Krautrock and Expressionism – so is this performance associative and fluid.” Patrick Wildermann / Tagesspiegel\nIn 1987\, Bowie returned to Berlin to give a concert in front of the Reichstag\, a stone´s throw away from the Wall. East Berliners who came to the Brandenburger Tor to listen started shouting “Bring down the Wall” – the first domino in a series of many that led to the fall of the Wall?\nwith Summer Banks\, Maureen Gleason\, Daniel Janke\, Ben Maddox\, Angharad Matthews\, Jeffrey Mittleman.\nConcept and Direction: Günther Grosser | Music: David Bowie\, Brian Eno\, Iggy Pop – arranged by Daniel Janke | Stage: Tomas Fitzpatrick | Video: Rebecca Shein | Costumes: Heike Braitmayer | Lighting: Katri Kuusimäki | Choreography: Eva Günther | Stage Management and Directing Assistance: Rose Nolan | Photography: Stefania Migliorati\nAn English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center production\nSupported by Hauptstadtkulturfonds\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/2716849598507198/?event_time_id=2716849628507195

SUMMARY:Lygia Clark: Performances | #1 Tunnel | Lebensstrukturen
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the Lygia Clark retrospective\, selected group performances by the artist will be reinterpreted live in the exhibition space.\n📍Thursdays\, 5:30–7:30 pm\n📍Sundays\, 12:00–2:00 pm\nParticipation is free with a valid ticket. Please note that times may vary slightly.\nTunnel\, 1968\nTwo people move from different sides through a narrow\, flexible fabric tunnel 50 meters long. They have to crawl past each other to reach the exit on the other side. This creates a constricting feeling and evokes associations with a birth canal. If the participants feel too suffocated by the fabric\, Clark cuts holes in the cloth through which they can breathe. This allows the people in the tunnel to receive help from the outside – a process that Clark also associates with childbirth.\nLife structures\, 1966\nThis net made of rubber bands is activated by a group. Several participants place their hands and feet\, or their entire body\, in the net at different points and move around the room. Every movement made by one person has an effect on all the others. Everyone is connected and the group feels like a collective body.\nFind more info here:\nhttps://www.smb.museum/en/events/detail/tunnel-life-structures-2025-05-25-120000-150193/\nLygia Clark: Canibalismo\, 1969 © Associação Cultural O Mundo de Lygia Clark / Eduardo Clark\, 1973\n#neuenationalgalerie #lygiaclark #performances\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/724874426729276/?event_time_id=724874473395938

SUMMARY:Re-connect Art 2025: WELL-BEING
DESCRIPTION:The fifth edition of the Re-connect Art contemporary art festival will focus on Well Being this year. The festival will take place from 5 to 15 June in the gallery and outdoor area of the Veleslavín Chateau. In addition to an art exhibition\, there will be live performances\, artist talks\, a debate\, and therapeutic and self-care sessions. \nThe project aims to highlight the imbalance between life and work\, the need for rest and self-care\, as well as care for immaterial values. Through artistic interventions\, we will respond to the history and present of the Veleslavín chateau and its surrounding gardens. \nA pressing need to restore respect for physical and mental health\, self-care and care for life in the community\, is demonstrated by the magnificent cultural monument such as the Veleslavín Castle\, which until recently had been closed to the public for a number of years and was dilapidated.\nThe theme of well-being is deeply connected to the essence of art itself. Art is a nourishing form of self-care\, a cultivation of values\, an occasion for socializing\, a mechanism for social self-reflection\, and an irreplaceable source of spiritual nourishment. Today\, however\, we encounter its underappreciation and undervaluation\, which results in a shared experience of exhaustion in the art sector. The creation of art and its mediation is usually a very demanding endeavor\, connected not only with the creative process itself\, but also with a number of other activities—administrative\, organizational\, and operational. Artists often find themselves on the brink of their material\, physical\, and mental strength\, and given the tradition of low valuation of cultural production and the lack of legislative support in our country\, they face existential questions.\nTherefore\, the festival addresses this problem through artistic interventions and also includes elements that expose the precariousness of cultural workers\, using the festival itself as an example.\nCurators: Elis Unique\, Tereza Nováková\, Barbora Trnková\, Veronika Zapletalová.\nParticipating artists: Eliška Šárková\, Martin Zetová\, Phila Primus\, Vladimír Turner\, Libuše Vendlová\, Darina Alster + Peter Bill + Viktor Takáč + Magdaléna Šipka\, Matyáš Grimmich\, Petra Pětiletá\, Jatun Risba\, Viktor Takáč\, Jana Orlová\, Yustin Castillo\n🩵 🏵️ ❇️\nExhibition 5. 6. – 15. 6. 2025\nOpening hours:\nMon – Fri 15.00 – 18.00\nSat – Sun 13.00 – 18.00\n\n5. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n6:00 Opening ceremony of the exhibition /Phila Primus\, Vladimír Turner\, Libuše Vendlová\, Darina Alster\, Peter Bill\, Eliška Šárková\, Jatun Risba\, Jana Orlová\, Viktor Takáč\, Petra Pětiletá/\n7:00 Live performance /Martin Zetová/\n\n7. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n16:30 Somatic meditation session /Yustin Castillo/\n17:00 Live group performance Tree of Life / Darina Alster\, Peter Bill\, Viktor Takáč\, Madgaléna Šipka and collective/\n\n11. 6 🩵 🏵️ ❇️\n17:30 Artist Talk and discussion / Vladimír Turner/\n18:00 Advisory circle / Matyáš Grimmich/\nThe festival will feature workshops for schoolchildren led by artist Libuše Vendlová.\n🩵 🏵️ ❇️\nRe-connect Art is an international festival of art and life that focuses on supporting live art\, new media creation\, and audience development through interactive and participatory artistic approaches.\nThe festival is being held with the kind support of the Prague Biennale Foundation. The project has received financial support from the State Fund for Culture of the Czech Republic. Prague 6 Municipal District has provided free access to the castle and cultural activities.\nThe event is being held thanks to the voluntary participation of the project’s authors\, artists and participants\, whose unpaid work is a contribution to our common well-being.\nThe current program can be found at: www.re-connect.art\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1787888085104112/

SUMMARY:FOUR PLAY 9th ANNIVERSARY
DESCRIPTION:⫸ English\n⫸⫸ ABOUT FOUR PLAY ⫸⫸\nThe Four Play project was born in spring 2016 in order to breach the all-too-serious walls of those days’ Berlin kinky and sex-positive scenes\, and to allow the young and the inexperienced to experiment with many aspects of the kinky lifestyle and their own sexuality in a safe\, moderated environment. With dozens of artists who perform at each event\, the Four Play is to be perceived more as a festival than as merely a party. Since the event received its residency at the notorious Kitkat Club\, it spreads over five or six dance floors\, and multiple other performative areas. Along a carefully-curated\, extremely diverse musical program featuring Techno\, House\, Disco\, Psytrance and even Jazz and Soul\, the Four Play offers performative interactive activities\, either in stations around the club\, or as shows that are integrated into the musical program. At the Four Play\, we expect our guests to express themselves in their choice of outfits\, as well as in the program throughout the night. Our emphasis strongly lies on consent and communication. A large\, dedicated awareness team escorts each event\, and while we highly encourage our guests to interact with one another\, we also require each interaction to be consensual and respectful.\n⫸⫸ WHAT TO EXPECT ⫸⫸\n▻ High-end Techno journey on the Main Floor\, happy modern interpretations of House music in the Dragon Floor\, Psytrance in the small Séparée cellar\, Disco in the Prisma Bar (when open)\, Jazz and Blues in Salon Rouge\, alternating style in the 4th Room (large basement).\n▻ Around 80 Performances\, walking acts and Workshops.\n▻ A Kinky Marketplace to upgrade your outfits.\n▻ Hedonistic safe space for kinksters and LGTBQ.\n▻ A large\, highly dedicated Awareness Team.\n⫸⫸ MUST READ ⫸⫸\n▻ NO PRESALE. Tickets only at the door.\n▻ The Four Play has a strict no-photo and no phone policy. We have a designated photobooth with our photographer\, where photos can be taken of those who wish for it.\n▻ The Four Play is a safe space for any ethnicity\, gender or sexual orientation. Any sign of racism\, antisemitism\, sexism\, or homophobia will not be tolerated.\n▻ You are to respect the personal space of any fellow dancer. In case you feel that you have been treated wrongly\, or that your space has been violated\, please notify our awareness team or our staff immediately.\n⫸⫸ DRESS CODE ⫸⫸\nKinky style: Latex\, leather\, PVC\, vinyl.\nSexy style: Lingerie\, mesh\, sexy swimwear.\nNatural style: Naked or naked with tape\, Garden of Eden style\, ancient Rome style.\nCreative: Wild costumes\, super-heroes\, glittery festival style.\nTips:\n1. If you can wear it casually – it does not belong in the Four Play.\n2. Boxer shorts are considered casual wear\, and will not conform with our dress code.\n3. Sneakers are okay\, as long as they fit the outfit.\n4. Black outfits are okay\, yet we warmly welcome color and creativity.\n5. Denim is an absolute no-go.\n6. Use accessories to upgrade your look: chokers\, harnesses\, chains etc.\n⫸⫸ FAQ ⫸⫸\n1. Can single or groups of male-read people join the party?\n– In general\, women-read people and queers are rarely a threat to fellow guests in sex-positive event. Male-read people are more carefully selected\, and would have to be able to prove acquaintance with the guidelines of consent.\n2. Is the usual Kitkat dress code enough?\n– Yes\, it is\, however\, we encourage you to make a creative effort to express your personality\, and to adapt to the Four Play colourful character.\n3. Am I allowed to masturbate next\, or in front of people or playful couples?\n– No\, you’re not. Solo-Wankers are not welcomed at the Four Play and without explicit consent\, are considered an harassment.\n4. What do I do if I or someone around me feel uncomfortable or mistreated?\n– Please report that to our Awareness Team immediately.
