Their Discography also includes ALIVE:ness (LP/eBook 2014)\, Combinatorics (EP/eBook 2013)\, will be ready – the Teufelsberg session – (LP Freudian Slit Records 2013) and Leather Jacket (Single/remix 2012) \nComposed in dialogue with conceptual explorations and texts\, Mad Kate | the Tide’s dynamic sonicscapes mix punk\, acoustic folk\, psychedelic rock and spoken word. DESCRIPTION:Doors open: 7.30 PM\nStart of the program: 8 PM \nHow compelling must a woman be to meet society’s expectations? Feminine\, vulnerable\, but also strong\, skilled in a variety of tasks\, able to manage both housework\, freedom\, friendship\, family and career. Able to fix a washing machine\, have negotiation skills\, manage the emotional labor in a couple and at the same time accumulate wealth. Remember to defend her territory when necessary\, be attractive and take care of her appearance. Don’t complain too much\, smile more\, be fully available while self-caring\, and maintain an aura of mystery while enduring pain. Be leftist\, powerful and determined while being demure. All these aspects seem incompatible\, like the contrast between a lioness and a lily\, between a motherly saint and a witch. The ripples of this contrast still spread far and wide. \nAnd are not sustainable.\nIn art\, this contrast is perhaps most visibly represented. Cinema\, literature\, music\, performance\, as mirrors of society\, have often been challenged for their stereotypical portrayal of women characters\, often limiting them to superficial roles and to their physical appearance\, instead of their ever-evolving\, transformative\, and perhaps uncomfortable bodies of work.\nGirl\, Show Me That Body (of Work) is an event series exclusively showcasing womxn writers\, poets\, and performers from migration backgrounds\, illuminating the transgenerational trauma borne by lineage\, politics\, and society\, and the work womxn artists do to heal it.\nCreated by author and journalist\, Ioana Cristina Casapu\, the first event serves as a bridge through the shortest night of 2024\, when nature’s forces peak. \nWe will show six different performances of womxn artists who gather on the brightest day of the year to move us together through the darkness. Through her continued writing and projects\, she strives to honor the efforts of women who have fled traumatizing circumstances to live a safer life; to find rooms of their own in the world\, a community that\, in the words of Emily Dickinson\, illuminates-and does not seal their experiences. Higham’s simultaneous performance generated real time synthesis of sound and video feedback manipulation as well as aeolian vocoder cut-up sequences.\n“Westerlies the Krib\,\nRocks\, Sand and Glass\,\nMariners in the Old sailing outfits\,\nScribbling and crossing this belt for detection.” \nThe performance explores layers of translation\, corruption\, compression\, encryption\, and retrieval. In the mid 1990’s he developed several concepts and bodies of work including ‘DataSculpture’\, ‘SpaceSampling’ and ‘AutoTecture’. These seminal ideas offered up at exhibitions\, panels and lectures at ISC Conferences and The Computer Sculpture Forum have now been widely adopted overtime. His recent series of work ‘Thought Forms’ utilizes Real Time Data Acquisition and Brain Machine Interface Technologies. His work has been shown internationally in over 100 exhibitions from China to South Africa\, Australia\, New Zealand\, India\, Turkey\, Senegal\, France\, Czech Republic\, Poland\, Finland\, Germany\, Austria\, England\, Scotland\, Wales and across the USA. He has received several prestigious awards such as the McKnight Fellowship for his VR Opera ‘Metarune Clipper’ in 1996. \nHigham is one of the first in a small group of international artists and academics who advocated the use of rapid prototyping\, cnc and digital technologies in sculpture. He first exhibited interactive VR sculpture and real world rapid prototype sculpture\, also cast in metals in 1995 as seen at the Body Builder Gallery\, Chicago. Also since ’95 he has been a member of Ars Mathematica\, Paris\, France an international organization devoted to promoting digital sculpture founded by Alexander Vitkine and Christian LaVigne. Higham will be featured in the Ars Mathematica book on the history and early pioneers of digital sculpture soon to be published in Europe. \nAs an independent Higham has held several academic teaching and visiting artist positions. DESCRIPTION:SoulJam is a jam-session collective and event organizer\, made up of musicians centered around communication and community. Beginning in the summer of 2021\, the collective hosted jams open to all\, with the aim of creating musical connection. At the core of SoulJam is a Houseband\, made up of musicians from around the world performing music that is fully improvised in the funk\, hip-hop\, soul and house directions\, but a pillar of SoulJam is to give a platform to diverse artists both in our local Berlin scene\, and from around the world.\nKota No Uta is a Berlin based artist\, producer and singer-songwriter. Her experimental sound is rooted in neo-soul\, ethno jazz\, and psychedelic soul. A multicultural story teller\, by nature\, Kota writes her lyrics through the prism of metaphor and mythology\, often inspired by daily observations of surroundings.\nIn 2023 Kota won a Female* Producer Prize by Sony Music Entertainment Germany and Music Woman\, meanwhile releasing collaborative singles with various producers. Her music subsequently was played on BBC2 by Jamie Cullum\, JazzFm UK by Chris Philips\, Soho Radio by Karl Boss and BobaFatt\, Balamii Radio by Allysha Joy\, P8 Jazz radio in Denmark\, Prun radio by Angèle and Nélia\, France and J- wave Radio at Morning voyage show in Tokyo.\nSkyline Sun\, originally from Australia and now based in Berlin\, is a nu-jazz project that brings a fresh and groove-focused approach to jazz and improvised music. Under this musical moniker resides the talent of producer and multi-instrumentalist\, Jarrah Dhyan. With his latest releases Skyline Sun has garnered significant attention from acclaimed platforms such as JazzFM UK\, WorldWide FM\, Soho Radio\, Twisted Soul\, Kalab\, Vibe Rating\, and FIP Radio\, among others. This will be the launch of the project’s debut album ‘Dichotomy’ and is sure to be an incredible night.\nOf course we will have the legendary SoulJam house band and jam session and our resident DJ Sean Steinfeger throughout the night!
