With a career that spans over two decades\, Paradis is a well-established figure in Montreal’s dense electronic music culture\, releasing over time with various projects\, performance line-ups\, or under different monikers such as Arnaud Lazlaud. He also collaborates with artists like Liz Wendelbo (of Xeno & Oaklander) as the duo Liz and László\, as well as Latvian Producer Dmitry Distant.\nAutomelodi’s music embraces and re-contextualizes a spectrum of influences that include the lesser-known European synthpop and post-punk of the latter Twentieth Century\, combined with literary stylizations reminiscent of Gallic songwriters such as Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Fontaine—with nearly all vocals delivered in French. Following the self-released first EP\, an eponymous album was released in 2010 by the now defunct Brooklyn label Wierd Records. The second LP\, “Surlendemains acides”\, was released in digital format in 2013. A third LP\, “Mirages au futur verre-brisé” was released in 2019 on Austin’s Holodeck Records. The release was followed that same year by an extensive tour of Europe. DESCRIPTION:Splitter Orchester is returning to silent green’s iconic Kuppelhalle for the fourth and final installment of its site specific concert series. The orchestra has played in this architecture before\, and those who have been there in November 2019 know what they are in for. Back then the orchestra was distributed on the balconies of Kuppelhalle\, creating two circles stacked over each other high above the audience’s heads. The setup allowed for a crystal clear sound perception for everyone in the space\, both musician and listener alike. As the many axes of listening unfolded\, so did a massive piece of music\, considered by many to be one of the best performances of Splitter Orchester to date. The recording of Vortex has been released on last year’s 3CD compilation splitter musik\, out on Hyperdelia.\nThough completely improvised\, the music was strangely accompanied by the feeling that this was not an improvisation at all – but rather a delicately thought out work of music\, created in the moment by a collective consciousness.\nThe return of Splitter Orchester to Kuppelhalle is not about trying to recreate this particular moment\, but about revisiting the space with the distance of the last six years that have passed. The world and the orchestra have changed radically since 2019\, nothing is the same anymore. DESCRIPTION:American multidisciplinary artist Rene MG invites visitors into a participatory performance and installation that links the artspace’s interior to the immediate life of the street. Titled “Every(w)here is Here\,” the event directs attention to a stretch of Kottbusser Damm\, treated as a historical seam between Neukölln and Kreuzberg\, shaped by successive waves of settlement\, labor\, and migration.\nWorking with conversation\, guided prompts\, streaming\, and live projection\, the evening stages a shared encounter in which participants can step in\, facilitate\, or simply observe as the situation shifts. The heart of the setting is a window-facing livestream projection that acts as an optical membrane between inside and outside. Passers-by are invited to connect in real time\, so that viewpoints from the neighborhood enter the space directly\, accumulating into a changing composite of street-level experience and gallery presence.\nRene MG’s aims for her event to be an opportunity “to connect\, converse\, intersect\, resonate about a specific place\,” and its history\, and an attempt to bridge people’s understanding of what art is and can be.\nAbout Rene MG:\nRene MG (b. 1965\, USA) is a Saint Paul\, Minnesota-based artist working across participatory performance\, installation\, and film. We focus on connecting and learning from all different genres and subsidiaries. Encouraging people from different musical backgrounds and contexts to interact with each other and create a curated framework for immediate composition in a live setting. Because we believe that improvisation can mean lifelong musical learning\, we want to view its ongoing practice and performance as an opportunity for the development of ones “voice” and to create a regular offering for musicians* to keep trying themselves out in this laboratory and working community. We hope that in this way we can contribute to spreading this common respect for each other and the different approaches to improvisation in all of our respective “scenes” and enable fresh perspectives. The idea is not new\, of course\, but we want to perceive it anew. In our case we take the name away from an institution that was founded in Vienna in 2005 under the name “The Neu New York/Vienna Institute of Improvised Music” by the now deceased saxophonist Marco Eneidi and still exists as “Monday Improvisers Session” in Vienna. The exhibition sees the spider not merely as a metaphor\, but as a model of thinking and perception; an entity that embodies both productivity and captivity\, care and control\, sensitivity and ambivalence.\nThe pieces respond differently to recurrent motifs throughout art history—specifically the work of Louise Bourgeois—such as: the duality of motherhood\, corporeality\, and artistic labour. The spider is industrious\, precise\, enduring; it weaves structures out of itself that are at once shield\, archive\, and trap. It remains bound to one place\, yet perceives its surroundings with the utmost attention.\nThe participating artists contribute to the spider’s lexicon without defining it absolutely. Their works move between intimacy and display\, between inner sensations and outer structures. Here\, perception is not a stable state\, but something fragile and fluctuating—a constant spinning\, loosening\, and repairing.\nMiia Rinne develops a new installation for HilbertRaum that draws together elements of her earlier work Trapeze Net and extends them further atmospherically. Sound\, moving images\, and space interlock; audio material from C-cassettes becomes experienceable via headphones. Perception here becomes bodily\, selective\, and unreliable—a fabric of memory\, repetition\, and disturbance.\nMirka Raito’s pieces consider the phenomenon of ASMR: that difficult-to-describe tingling that can be triggered by whispering\, rustling\, or observing highly concentrated activities. In her work she examines ASMR as a threshold experience between space\, body\, and attention—between gently rushing past euphoria. Drawings\, objects\, and connective elements stretch into a quiet\, charged installation.\nGosia Machon presents small-format works on paper in which psychological states\, body images\, and natural scenes overlap. Her images appear at once open and condensed—like mental landscapes in which desire\, secrecy\, and reverence permeate one another.\nNiina Lehtonen Braun develops an installative arrangement of collages\, objects\, painting\, and stop-motion animation. The works unfold as a spatial narrative of images\, notes\, and associations in which layers\, ruptures\, and repetitions negotiate corporeality and experience.\nThe exhibition is further expanded through a series of performative interventions:\nAt the opening on 6 Feb\, Miia Rinne and Piia Rinne show a joint sound-video performance in which analogue cassette sounds\, tape loops\, and video material are live-woven together.\nOn Sunday\, 8 Feb\, Alice Chauchat performs a solo dance piece within the exhibition—a bodily engagement with space\, time\, and attention that temporarily sets the assembly of works in motion.\nSPIDER PIECE understands the exhibition space as a living structure: a place in which artistic processes\, bodies\, sounds\, and images touch\, become entangled\, and loosen again.
